Question: What is MIDS?
Answer: MIDS (Mobile Interface Design System) is an innovative solution for automation of the whole UI prototyping and usability research cycle. Primarily MIDS is designed for creation of mobile user interfaces, however, can be applied for design of non-mobile interfaces. For more information about MIDS explore our Overview section.
Question: Who should use MIDS?
Answer: MIDS automates the work of UI designers, usability testers and user experience researchers at cellular operators, handset manufacturers, service providers and design houses. Your company will benefit from using MIDS, once you’ve got many mobile interfaces to be designed and tested on regular basis.
Question: Can I use MIDS on Mac?
Answer: Yes, you can. MIDS is a cross-platform system running under Windows XP or higher and Mac OS X or higher. All client modules of the system do not require any software to be pre-installed on user’s computer except operating system.
Question: Can we try MIDS before purchasing a license?
Answer: Yes, MIDS trial version is available for free for all the companies considering purchasing MIDS. Please, send us an email, and we will provide you with MIDS trial version.
Question: How can I add UI components from our company’s UI style guide to MIDS Desktop Storyboard Editor?
Answer: You can change look& feel of all the UI components available in the Desktop Storyboard Editor library, which provides enough options for different types of interfaces. However, if you need to have more extensive customized library of UI components, it won’t take long for our customization team to implement new components for your designers.
Question: Can I run MIDS prototype on different mobile platforms?
Answer: Yes, MIDS Handset Emulator is available on J2ME, Windows Mobile, BREW, Symbian, MacOS (iPhone), BlackBerry. Besides, we customize Handset Emulator for specific operators’ platforms.
Question: Does MIDS support prototyping for touchscreens and testing on touchscreen devices?
Answer: Yes, you can prototype touchscreen interfaces in MIDS Desktop Storyboard Editor as well as perform usability testing on touchscreen devices: all the swipe gestures and stylus touches of respondents during their interaction with MIDS Handset Emulator will be collected and saved for usability analysis.
