MIDS process

MIDS process

MIDS is designed to fully automate your UI prototyping and usability research process. MIDS workflow meets standard process requirements of cellular operators, handset manufacturers, content and service providers as well as design houses. You can pursue the following basic steps when employing MIDS for your process automation or we will customize the system to meet the specific needs of your company.

MIDS process

  1. Designer creates a user interface storyboard employing rich library of controls and UI components of the MIDS Desktop Storyboard Editor.

  2. Designer performs immediate testing of the prototype by pushing one button that converts the storyboard into interactive prototype running on Desktop Emulator of the reference handset.

  3. Designer performs automatic testing of the prototype storyboard to identify mistakes and contradictions to the pre-defined guidelines.

  4. Designer corrects the mistakes and defects of the prototype.

  5. Designer delegates the prototype to the Usability Researcher for usability tests.

  6. Usability Researcher creates corresponding research and documentation in the MIDS Desktop Research Control Center: fills in the information about target group of the product/service, selects handsets for testing, defines Respondent’s profile and/or selects Respondents from the database, creates tasks for Respondents, assigns the Usability Testing Leads for each testing group.

  7. Testing Lead logs in the Web Usability Testing Center and performs usability testing according to Usability Researcher’s conditions: invites selected or relevant respondents to the testing lab, registers them, distributes handsets selected for the research and helps to download the prototypes to the handsets. When all the Respondents finish the tasks, the research status is changed automatically.

  8. During the testing all the key presses and delays of Respondents are collected and saved on the server.

  9. When the research is finished Usability Researcher gets the results of the tests employing the analytical tool of MIDS. Analytical results and statistics help the Researcher to identify mistakes and problematic places of the prototype design. The mistakes and problems of the design are sent to the Designer for correction.

  10. Designer corrects the prototype according to the usability testing results and delegates it to the Usability Researcher for additional research (if necessary).

  11. When the usability research results are satisfactory, Designer delegates the prototype to development team for further implementation of the product or service.
